My Island: Barbados

Barbados is located in the West Indies of the windward islands, in the Caribbean region of North America. This island is twenty-one miles long and surrounded by the Atlantic ocean. Barbados is known for its beautiful beaches and clear water. They have real coconut water that is said to be really refreshing on a warm day. The capital is Bridgetown. Around the island are beaches, botanical gardens, the Harrison's Cave formations, and seventeenth century plantation houses.  English is the language that is mainly spoken, however Bajan dialect is spoken as well. When slaves were brought to Barbados they were forced to speak English, so it became the most commonly used language. Banjan dialect is a combination of British English and various West African languages. This island has a representative Democratic Government. Barbados is divided into thirty constituencies. About Me

My name is Nikkia McDowell-Hunt. I was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. I was born on August twenty-forth at Grady hospital. I am majoring in nursing, and I eventually want to become a Pediatrician. My hobbies include shopping, sleeping, and hanging out with friends. My favorite colors are pink and black. Some of the things I dislike are bugs, animals, and being outside for long periods of time.
